Alcian Blue Staining Solution
Alcian Blue is a copper phthalocyanine cationic dye. When used in a pH 2.5 acid solution the cations of Alcian blue can form ionic bonds with the negative charges ionized by carboxyl groups in the tissue, and the tissues with carboxyl groups (such as proteoglycan and hyaluronic acid) are stained.
